Q: Who is PhillNye, The Credit Guy™?

A: PhillNye is a credit restoration company located in Northern Nevada. PhillNye exists to assist fellow Americans in restoring, managing, and utilizing credit for it intended purpose- buying power- a key component in procuring wealth.


Q: How long has PhillNye™ been operating in credit repair?

A: PhillNye™ has been helping people with improving their credit scores since December 2004.   We became an official entity after the owner, Phillip Hunt, Jr became unemployed.

Q: What hours are representatives available to accept phone inquiries?

A: PhillNye™ is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so feel free to call anytime, day or night. The only time we are not open is for observance of the Christmas holiday. We close on December 24th 9:00 PM and re-open December 26 at 9:00 AM.


Q: What is a credit score?

A: A credit score is a number that represents a person’s creditworthiness. Credit scores are based on a variety of personal financial data. Higher credit scores generally correlate with better creditworthiness. Credit scores are used to predict the likelihood that a  consumer will default on a loan. Scores range from 330-850.


Q: What is the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)? Why was it created?

A: The Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 (“FCRA”) is U.S. Federal Government legislation enacted to promote the accuracy, fairness, and privacy of consumer information contained in the files of consumer reporting agencies. It protects consumers from the willful and/or negligent inclusion of inaccurate information in their credit reports.


Q: What are the names of the 3 credit bureaus?

A: Transunion, Equifax, and Experian are the major ones. There are over 40 other minor bureaus that house everything from residential history to credit to employment, even criminal records!


Q: How can I get a copy of my credit report?

A: By law, consumers are entitled to receive one free copy of their credit report on a yearly basis.  Order online from www.annualcreditreport.com, the only authorized website for free credit reports, or call 1-877-322-8228.


Q: Why do I need reports from all 3 bureaus?

A: The three bureaus each have access to different information. Therefore, by only checking one report, you might be missing out on derogatory information listed on the other two.


Q: What is the difference between the credit score I see on third party credit monitoring websites versus the score a creditor presents?

A:  Website may only pull information from one or two bureaus while a lender will pull from all three. Also, there are hundreds, possibly thousands of different scoring models used to calculate consumer credit scores.


Q: If you remove an item from my credit report, is the debt also removed?

A: Most often the debt will not be eliminated. The company must be notified that the debt is not valid in order to eliminate the debt from their records.


Q: If I pay a collection off, will it be removed from my credit reports?

A: No. Paying off a collection account updates the record resulting in the collection reporting for an additional 7 years from the time it was paid off.


Q: When is the best time to start my program?

A: Right now. Credit restoration is a process that takes time when done honestly and legally. Although it is common to see satisfactory results in as little as 30 days, scores do not improve overnight. More important, improvement to your credit rating (i.e. bad, good, excellent) takes time to season. Improving your score is a process that takes at least as much time, but usually longer than it did to make it bad.

Q: Can you use a copy of my report if I have one?

A: We prefer to use our own source in obtaining your credit reports as some third party websites do not accurately report the information from all three bureau. However, we can use your report if it is an official report from the bureau itself and dated within the last 30 days of your initial consultation.


Q: Does checking my own credit report hurt my score?

A: No, you are not penalized for checking your own report.


Q: Why hire you? Can't I do this myself?

A: Absolutely, but you wouldn’t perform your own surgery or build your own vehicle. For these things, you consult an expert. Much the same for your credit. I am a seasoned expert who is up to date all the policies, procedures, and, most importantly the laws which govern the credit industry. Not to mention, I have developed a rapport with the credit bureaus as well as many lending and other financial institutions. This is something that cannot be taught or even bought.


Q: Will this really benefit my credit score?

A: Absolutely, and it’s not just your score that will benefit. During your program you will learn many things. I believe in educating consumers. The goal is to improve your credit score, absolutely. The hidden objective is to arm my clients with the knowledge to prevent them from needing my services again. This may seem odd coming from a business owner, but my goal is to not have high clientele return rate. After all, if I did, I obviously was not doing my job the first time around.


Q: Who is a candidate for this program?

A: Just about everyone is a perfect candidate for our program. Credit problems or not, if you are being held back from the absolute best interest rates, or even financing period, we’d like to work with you to establish, or re-establish your good name and creditworthiness.


Q: How will I know it's working?

A: On a no later than weekly basis, we review our clients credit files for any updates. The information we learn is passed immediately on to our clients. Clients are also furnished the information to check for updates themselves. Soon our clients to see their information in (real-time) at home or on-the-go the go within an app.


Q: How many items do you work on at a time?

A: We work on your credit file in waves. In each wave. The number of negative items worked on in each wave solely depends on the program chosen by the client. We continue to work these items until we receive the desired result. That item is replaced with the next and the process continues until the program is complete and all items are removed or corrected. I suggest the Superhero Program as it provides an unlimited number of items worked in each wave.


Q: When can I see my score go up?

A: Most clients have seen a considerable improvement to their credit scores in as little as 30 days from signing up. We think it good practice to refrain from making promises to our clients as there are truly so many variables at play. In order to answer this truthfully, one would need the ability to see in the future. To maintain client confidence, we have the absolute best cancellation policy. If at any time you become dissatisfied with our services, for ANY reason, cancel immediately. Yes, even if the reason is my hairstyle! No questions asked or exit surveys to take. A prompt refund will be issued (within 7-10 days) for the month in which you cancel… AND all items being within that wave will continue to be worked throughout that billing period.


Q: Can you stop creditors and bill collectors from calling me?

A: Yes. If a creditor calls you, politely inform the person on the line that you are currently unavailable to talk and hang up. Please make note of the representative’s name and ID number (if possible), the company name, the time you were called, and the call back number. Then call us and we’ll handle everything else.


Q: Do you offer debt settlement?

A: No. Although we will work with creditors to assist in lowering your debt, we are not a debt settlement company.


Q: Do you share or sell my personal information?

A: We only share your personal information with the credit reporting agencies and existing creditors and only for verification purposes. We do not share nor sell your information for any other purpose


Q: What languages do you speak?

A: Currently, we only speak English. We plan to add several languages soon.


Q: Do I need an appointment?

A: No appointment is necessary. They are recommended to prevent a client from unnecessary wait times. For example, a client stopping in without an appointment could have to wait to be seen for an hour or more based on that day’s schedule. For your convenience, it’s always best to just shoot us a quick call at (775) 384-7490.


Q: What are your charges?

A: There is an enrollment charge of $129.95 (special discounted rates for our couple’s plans) to cover costs of preparing your program plan. After that, pay only your monthly payment plan. There is no charge for the consultation.


Q: Are there additional charges?

A: No. The only charges are the initial enrollment and monthly plan charges.


Q: Do I need to settle with my creditors?

A: Generally, there is no need to settle with your creditors. Settling with a collection company will negatively affect you as it updates the record, allowing it to be reported for an additional 7 years. 


Q: Can I cancel whenever I want?

A: Yes, and with no questions asked or time restrictions. All we ask is you inform us in writing.


Q: How does the billing work?

A: You will be charged the enrollment charge (NOT for your initial consultation) and the first month of your plan. This is due 3 days after the initial consultation. After that, you are billed only the cost of the program you selected during your initial consultation (due every 30 days). Unlike other companies, we do not sneak in hidden charges. You only pay the amount listed on the service agreement.

 

Q: What does the “free consultation” really cost?

A: Your free consultation is 100% free. There are no hidden fees or gimmicks. You will receive a bill for $0.00 for this consultation!
